Mr. Akinwale Oladipo Akinremi is a highly accomplished banking executive with nearly two decades of experience in the financial sector. He began his banking career in 2006 with the United Bank for Africa (UBA), one of Nigeria’s leading financial institutions.  Akinremi holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye, and a Master’s degree in Managerial Psychology from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria, which has equipped him with a strong foundation in both economic principles and human behavior in organizational settings.

Throughout his distinguished career,  Akinremi has held various strategic leadership roles, demonstrating his ability to drive transformation and deliver results. In 2014, he was a key member of Union Bank of Nigeria’s (UBN) transformation team, contributing significantly to the bank’s turnaround and modernization efforts. His expertise and leadership have been instrumental in shaping the strategic direction of the organizations he has been part of.

Mr. Akinremi is also committed to continuous professional development, having actively participated in numerous international and local meetings, conferences, and seminars. This engagement has allowed him to stay abreast of industry trends and best practices, further enhancing his ability to lead effectively in a dynamic and competitive banking environment.

In 2019, Mr. Akinremi joined Sky Bank SL Ltd in Sierra Leone, bringing his wealth of experience and leadership skills to the institution. In March 2020, following regulatory approval from the Bank of Sierra Leone, he was appointed Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer (COO). In this role, he provides strategic direction and operational oversight, leveraging his extensive expertise to drive the bank’s growth and ensure operational excellence.
